Stella Kidd technically left Chicago for a good reason, as she was on leave to expand the Girls on Fire program, but her absence and lack of communication are having an impact on Severide.
Derek Haas revealed how the winter finale will set up the second half of the season in 2022, with Miranda Rae Mayo reprising her role as Stella.
The pain of saying goodbye to Casey seemed to have a silver lining in that it opened up the officer spot on Truck 81 just in time for Stella to take it, so her absence and silence have created quite a mystery and not one that Severide is particularly fond of.
For a long time, it appeared that a position as a lieutenant at 51 was exactly what she desired, and fans have no more insight into what she has been doing (other than not communicating with her fiancé) than Severide does.

And, based on his response when asked if fans should be concerned that she hasn’t been responding, Derek Haas believes that’s something to be concerned about moving forward.
What Happened To Stella Kidd?
Stella Kidd has been absent from a majority of episodes of Chicago Fire due to the character taking a leave of absence.
Even though Stella’s leave allowed her to work on the Girls on Fire program, her absence has put a strain on Severide, who has been struggling with her lack of communication.
While she was away, the truck lieutenant position was filled by Brett Dalton’s character, Jason Pelham, who has only exacerbated Severide’s displeasure.

Stella Kidd is played by the actress Miranda Miranda Rae Mayo from the United States. She appeared as Lacey Briggs on Blood & Oil (2015) and as Firefighter Stella Kidd on Chicago Fire since 2016.
Mayo was born in Fresno, California, and began her acting career in local stage productions and at her high school, Roosevelt High School.
The actress moved to Los Angeles and started modeling before making her television debut. She appeared as a guest star in an episode of the short-lived N.B.C. police drama Law & Order: LA in 2011.
