Disgraced Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon charges a known felon accused of attacking Olympian Kim Glass.
Following the release of criminal after criminal, light sentencings, and his soft-on-crime policies, Gascon is doing the right thing for once — putting criminals behind bars.
The felon, Semeon Tesfamariam, was convicted of felony assault in 2018 and 2019. He was out on parole after a state prison term, and most recently, he attacked Glass. On Tuesday, Gascon said:
“This was a brutal, unprovoked attack … Mr. Tesfamariam has a troubling history of attacking apparently random people with dangerous weapons. His behavior appears to have escalated with time.”
As RedState’s Jennifer Oliver O’Connell reported, Tesfamariam is accused of throwing a 10-inch metal bolt at Glass’ face as she was walking near a homeless encampment in Downtown Los Angeles.
Here is how Glass explained the horrific incident:
“As I was leaving lunch, I was outside saying goodbye to a friend and this homeless man ran up. He had something in his hand, he was on the side of the car in the street, and he just like looked at me with some pretty hateful eyes and as I go to tell my friend I think something is wrong with him, before I knew it a big metal bolt like pipe hit me. It happened so fast, he literally flung it from the street.”
The bystanders who saw the attack take place helped detain the felon until the police arrived. Currently, he is being held without bail. His hearing is on August 17; if convicted, he faces up to 11 years in prison.

Gascon seems to have changed his course of action, but we should not be fooled. He is the same pro-crime DA, and he is only putting criminals behind bars because he could very well face a recall election, and if the recall makes it to the ballot, he will lose. Former San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin was recalled last month, and Gascon will likely be next.
Over the weekend, Los Angeles County announced how they would confirm if at least 566,857 of the 715,833 signatures we submitted are “verified”. The Registrar’s office has until August 17 to complete its review and verification.

Due to the incompleteness and lack of leadership from Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Governor Gavin Newsom, and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, the homeless crisis, especially in Downtown, has worsened.
As much as the rescue missions are doing to help, career politicians are making the matter worse by making it too comfortable to be homeless and blocking walkways with encampments while people walk on the street and witness the open-air drug market as well. Instead of allowing them to suffer on the streets, they should work to create more rehabilitation centers, hire mental health experts to help those in need, get them off the streets, and return the public spaces back to the residents.
Los Angeles County residents will have some big races to vote on in the November midterms: LA County Sheriff Alex Villanueva is on the ballot, the Gascon recall will likely be on the ballot, and a new measure passed by the Board of Supervisors that will allow them to oust the Sheriff if voters approve the measure. Those who live in the City of Los Angeles will additionally have the opportunity to vote for Mayor of LA — and it is important to note that mayoral candidate Rick Caruso is for recalling Gascon, while Karen Bass is against it.
Hopefully, voters in Los Angeles will turn out and vote to get career politicians out of office and return to sanity in Los Angeles.
