The launch of McDonald’s ‘spiciest ever burger’ has stirred up a debate online today, with some fans claiming the burger ‘set their mouth on fire’ while others say ‘it barely had a kick’.
The £5.49 McSpicy, which launched across the UK today, is said to be the hottest the chain has ever offered.
It comes complete with a thick, succulent chicken fillet with a spicy coating, on a bed of crunchy, cool lettuce and mayo, between toasted sesame seed buns.
McDonald’s is even selling the burger with a glass of milk, so those who are sensitive to spice can keep their cool.

Hundreds of fans have tweeted about it since it hit stores this morning, with some saying they’ve ‘had hotter baths’ while others said ‘it was spicier than expected’.
Many compared it to the KFC Zinger burger, with one writing: ‘I liked it, very similar to a Zinger. A comfortable level of spice’.
Another wrote: ‘Couldn’t resist and was really impressed. One of McDonald’s best burgers but not too spicy for the masses.’

As a spice fan and someone who can confidently hold my nerve in a round of Nando’s Wing Roulette, I was keen to try this new hot chicken burger from McDonald’s.
From the moment it hit my tongue I could feel a warm, tingly sensation which became much more prominent as I munched my way through.
By the end of the burger the whole of my mouth and stomach were burning like I’d eaten a hot curry – a sensation I quite enjoy in a sadistic kind of way, but can imagine would be a tad uncomfortable for those who don’t do spicy food.
If you have a low spice threshold I’d issue a word of caution – and strongly suggest ordering through the app so you have the free bottle of Happy Meal Milk on standby – but you’ll have no problem with this if you can withstand a potent Jalfrezi.
I actually really enjoyed the burger – the chicken coating was crispy and the meat tasted succulent. The sweetness of the bun and mayonnaise, along with the strips of lettuce, balanced the spiciness well. Nando’s had better watch out!
