‘A school employee alerted a school administrator that they beleived a teacher was under the influence of alcohol or drugs,’ the San Rafael Police Department Lieutenant Dan Drink told KRON4.
‘The administrator went to the classroom where the teacher, Teagan Leonhart, was teaching. The administrator saw that Leonhart showed signs of intoxication and removed her from the classroom.’
When questioned by officers, Leonhart allegedly denied drinking any alcohol before coming to class, police said. But a breathalyzer test revealed that the English teacher’s blood alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit for driving a car.
‘When confronted with the results of the test, [Leonhart] admitted to consuming some alcohol that morning,’ Fink said.
Fink said the San Rafael officer, who is a certified Drug Recognition Expert, determined that Leonhart was not only drunk, but under the influence of marijuana and a prescription drug.
