ADRIÁN Olivares, a former member of the boy band Menudo, has died at the age of 48.
The Mexican singer’s death was confirmed by his loved ones and Menudo bandmates on Monday night.
According to a GoFundMe page set up by his friends and family, Adrián died unexpectedly on Monday after being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease last week.
Ulcerative colitis further complicated the disease.
“If you would please consider donating anything you can, it would be greatly appreciated as the family does not have the means to give Adrian his final farewell and help these girls with all their necessary expenses,” the description read.
“All donations will be given to his mother, Natasha … Fly high Adrian, we love you!”
Adrián became the 23rd member of the Latin band Menundo in 1990, roughly 20 years after it was originally started.
The singer left the band just three years later, in 1993, at the age of 16.
His time with the group was memorable, however, as his run included the release of albums 15 Años, Detras Tu Mirada, and Dancin’, Movin’, Shakin.’
Most recently, Adrián founded Wynwood Podcasting, a multimedia studio in Miami, Florida, and was the owner/director of Antenna Sound Inc.
He was also featured in the Max miniseries Forever Young.
Adrián is a father to three daughters, Eliana 18, and twins Lia and Lilly, 8.
TOUCHING TRIBUTES
Some of his former bandmates, including Robert Avellanet, who was in Menudo in the ‘90s alongside Adrián, revealed his death on Instagram.
“I am still in shock!” Robert wrote next to a headshot of a younger Adrian.
“Strength to his family. Wishing your soul a smooth transition. I’ll always remember his great sense of humor. We will meet there brother. RIP Adrian.”
Another former bandmate, Sergio Blass, made a similar post on social media.
“Fly high little brother and much Strength for your Family … You were always mature for your age with your unmatched charisma,” the musician wrote.
“You will always be one of the good ones and you will always live in our hearts.”

Adrián’s daughter, Eliana, shared her own heartbroken tribute on Instagram
“I’m at a loss for words. Daddy I love you forever. You have shown me love, guidance, strength and many more things that I wouldn’t know without you,” she said.
“I still can’t process the fact that you are gone and that I can’t give you a hug or tell you how much I love you.
“You are the best dad a girl can ask for. I know you are in gods hands and I’m so grateful to have you as my guardian angel. Love you forever daddy.”

One of the singer’s ex-girlfriends, Sylvia Campos, also shared a touching tribute on Facebook.
“My beautiful Adriancito you will always live in my heart, I was fortunate to share such a beautiful love with you, you were a great man, singer, son, brother, friend, but above all a GREAT DAD. May your path be full of light. I love you forever,” she wrote.
OTHER MENUDO DEATHS
Adrián’s death comes after another former member of Menudo, Ray Reyes, died from a heart attack in 2021.
The Puerto Rican musician was 51 years old.
Ray’s brother announced his death on Facebook at the time, asking fans to respect their family’s privacy.
“It is with great pain in my soul that I confirm the death of my beloved brother, Ray Reyes,” he wrote.
“I beg you all for space as we navigate this situation and ask that you please pray for our family, especially my mother who is very delicate. I also ask that you never forget his legacy.”
Another former bandmate, Anthony Galindo, passed away the year before in 2021. He was 41.
His death seemed to be tied to a previous suicide attempt, brought on by depression that stemmed from the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on the music industry.
His family also released a statement in regards to Anthony’s passing.
