Giorgia Meloni was born in Rome, Italy on January 15, 1977. Her father is from Sardinia and her mother is from Sicily; her father, a tax consultant, abandoned the family when Giorgia Meloni was 11 years old. Together with her sister, she spent her early childhood in the Garbatella neighborhood. Her current age as of 2023 is 46.
Meloni joined the Student Front, the student wing of the national conservative Italian Social Movement (MSI) when he was 15 years old. Throughout the years, she also founded the student coordination Gli Antenati (The Ancestors), which participated in the protest against Minister Rosa Russo Iervolino’s public education reform. In 1996, she became the national leader of Student Action, the student movement of the National Alliance, and the right-wing heir of the MSI, representing this movement in the Italian Ministry of Education’s Student Associations Forum. She graduated from the Amerigo Vespucci Institute the same year. During her early career, she worked as a nanny, hostess, and bartender at the Piper Club, one of the most renowned nightclubs in Rome. She subsequently earned a high school diploma in languages from the Institute “Amerigo Vespucci” of Rome with a final grade of 60/60. After winning the primary election in 1998, she was elected as a member of the Province of Rome, a position she held until 2002. She was elected national director in 2000 and became the first female president of Youth Action, the party’s youth division, in 2004.
