Republicans are not just demanding answers and records in response to Hunter Biden anymore; they’re also now accusing the Biden Administration of stymying their efforts to investigate.
Rep. James Comer (R-KY)– who is the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee — is demanding answers from Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen as to why she has not responded to his request for bank documents.
“On May 25, 2022, I wrote to you requesting information regarding Hunter Biden and other Biden associates and family members’ financial transactions flagged by U.S. banks for reporting to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) through Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs),” states Comer.
“The Biden Administration is restricting Congress’ access to SARs, and Committee Republicans are investigating whether this change in longstanding policy is motivated by efforts to shield Hunter Biden and potentially President Biden from scrutiny,” Comer continued, noting that the secretary did not comply with a June 8 deadline for information.
Not only haven’t they complied, according to Comer, they’ve also lied about the investigation and are trying to “thwart Congressional oversight.”
Comer said the Treasury Department falsely represented to the Wall Street Journal that they had turned over the requested documents to the Republicans.
“It is troubling that the Biden Administration is willing to provide a false story to the media to create the appearance of transparency while continuing to thwart congressional oversight,” Comer fires back in the letter.

The letter continued: “Treasury’s actions call for investigation and raise new questions about the degree to which the Biden Administration is using the federal government to provide cover for the Biden family and its associates … The American people deserve to know whether the President’s connections to his son’s business deals occurred at the expense of the United States’ interests and whether they represent a national security threat.”
We’ve written before about how Comer and the GOP have been trying to get documents and answers from the players involved.
Among the things that Comer Is asking questions about is that Hunter Biden and Eric Schwerin’s private equity firm allegedly had a financial stake in a company that was run by “Francis ‘Fran’ Person, a longtime Biden aide, and a Chinese executive with ties to officials at some of the highest levels of the Communist Party of China.” So Comer was asking banks if the Bidens were selling access, including to people with ties to foreign governments that were potential enemies of the United States.
A source told Fox the SARs were related to “China and other foreign nations.”
What’s that old expression? “The cover-up is worse than the crime”? Well, in this case, if they sold access and compromised us to foreign countries, that’s bad. But, if now they’re also working to cover it up, that adds even more to the problem. Then that can hook up whoever is involved in doing that as well, if true.
Just one more reason to vote like your life depends on it in November. Because given all we’ve seen from the Biden team, it probably does.
