Henry Joost Facts
- He had spent his childhood traveling the world with his parents. He continued being an avid traveler even after growing up.
- He and Ariel Schulman have been a directing team, best friends as well as the founders of the New York City production company named Supermarché. He has recalled that h had met Ariel in high school and became filmmaking partners in 2006.
- Henry has affirmed that having worked closely together with Ariel as filmmakers for many years, he had developed a natural and largely unspoken dynamic with him. He has noticed that their personalities complement each other, and they have rarely disagreed. With the film Catfish, it had not felt like the directing they have usually done as they were just living their lives, reacting, and shooting it ending up with one of the purest collaborations together. The biggest challenge had come later in the editing room, where they had spent more than a year, figuring out how to tell the story, attempting to distill the most exhilarating, unnerving, and ultimately revelatory week of their lives into an hour and a half.
- Joost has disclosed that when it has come to getting attracted to a script, it could be anything, to begin with, but he has looked for many aspects of it to be great as it takes the next two years or more of his life. He had loved the script for Netflix’s Project Power as it began with just an idea and an image. He had been fascinated by the concept that a man could catch on fire and that probably in a more grounded world of superpowers and that the fire would actually have consequences for him. Instead of having the ability to turn it on and off, h had thought that it would be nicer if superpowers had super symptoms. He has believed that in the real world, a truly powerful person would not be wearing clothes all of the time and had even pitched that for the characters, to Netflix.
- He has owned many beautiful cameras and has particularly enjoyed shooting portraits of his friends.
