A dietitian has revealed how you can make the perfect ‘crunchy’ hot chips using an air fryer, and they are far healthier than typical oil-drenched French fries.

Savina Rego, from Perth, said you need just two medium-sized potatoes, a tablespoon of extra Virgin olive oil and some salt and pepper to make the perfect chip, alongside an air fryer.

Starchy potatoes are best as they have a soft, dry texture that is good for chips. Good examples include King Edward, Romano, Désirée, Marris or russet.

‘The air fryer is one of my favourite kitchen appliances,’ Savina wrote.

‘It not only allows for healthier cooking methods (less oil for the same great taste), but it saves time in the kitchen too.’

Savina said you should first of all wash your two potatoes and slice them into chips ‘of your preferred thickness’.

‘Place the cut chips into a bowl with one tablespoon of oil and salt and pepper and mix well,’ she said.

Next, simply put the chips into your air fryer and cook them for 10 minutes on 180 degrees Celsius.

‘Remove and give them a good shake before placing them back in for a further 10 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius and repeat twice for extra crunch,’ Savina said.

Serve with a burger or piece of fish and salad with more salt and pepper, the dietitian advised.

Thousands who saw the clip said they wanted to try Savina’s simple method.

‘I didn’t know I needed an air fryer until I saw this video,’ one person wrote.

‘Yum, making chips this way would be perfect after a long work day,’ another added.

Previously, Savina has shared countless recipes on her Instagram page, including one for two-ingredient bagels.

Savina said you just need yoghurt and self-raising flour to make ‘easy and delicious bagels’.

‘These are super simple and you only need two ingredients,’ Savina wrote.

The foodie said you should get your hands on one cup of plain yoghurt, ideally fat-free, and one cup of regular or self-raising flour with a little extra to dust on the surface of your bagel.

If you want to augment your ingredients list slightly, you can add a beaten egg and the seasoning of your choice (sesame seeds or poppy seeds) to your bagels, but neither of these are necessary.

In the clip, Savina showed how she combined the yoghurt and flour together in a dish, before rolling it out into a ‘rope’ shape and pinching together the ends to make a circle bagel shape.

She then put the doughy mix into the oven for 15-20 minutes to cook.

2. In a large bowl combine the self rising flour and YoPRO yoghurt until a dough starts to form (the dough will be crumbly).

3. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead until dough forms. Divide dough into four equal parts.
