You and Urtula started dating in late 2017 or early 2018 when they were both students at Boston College. She started getting abusive toward her boyfriend after finding out that he lied about meeting his ex-girlfriend.

In their 18 month relationship, Inyoung sent several abusive texts message to Alex and often told him to die by suicide, reports Buzzfeed News.

Before her trial, news media including, Boston Globe, published their text messages. She first appeared in Boston’s Suffolk County Superior Court on November 22, 2019, when she was 21 years old.

Inyoung You, a 23-year-old woman, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter on December 23 after constantly telling Alexander Urtula to kill himself. He then went to kill himself.
In a plea agreement, she accepted the responsibility and consequences her abusive text messages had a role in Alexander’s suicide. You accepted the responsibility that her psychological, physical, and verbal abuse contributed to his suicide.
