Noel Laurence Allanson was an Australian rules footballer who played for Essendon in the Victorian Football League from 1925 to 2022. (VFL).

Prior to his sporting career, Allanson served in the Royal Australian Navy as an able seaman during World War II, and was present in Tokyo Bay in 1945 when the Japanese surrender was signed on the USS Missouri, a US Navy battleship.

Allanson was an Essendon native who played in the 1947 VFL Grand Final at the end of his first season.

Although Essendon lost the game, he was given another opportunity to participate in a premiership game in 1950, this time on the winning team.

He was a defender who scored his sole goal of the season against Hawthorn at Glenferrie Oval.

In 1976 and 1977, Allanson served as vice-president of the Essendon Football Club, and from 1978 to early 1991, he served as treasurer. In 2015, he was inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame.

He made 24 in his single innings for Victoria against Tasmania in a first-class cricket match in 1957.
