Isabella Strahan’s ‘My One Big Regret During Cancer Battle’, a 20-year-old who was diagnosed with brain cancer in October 2023, is reflecting on the choices she might have made differently throughout her health journey.

On March 1, she appeared on the Beyond the Battlefront podcast, where she openly discussed her diagnosis and the emergency surgery she had to undergo to remove a large medulloblastoma, a type of malignant tumor found in her cerebellum.

During her conversation with host Noor Hassan, a high school junior and cancer survivor, Isabella shared her regrets about her health challenges.

“I lost a lot of weight during my treatments, which was unavoidable due to my lack of appetite and constant nausea,” she said. “But one thing I really wish I had done was to stay active.”

“I know it can be incredibly tough, and there were days when I didn’t want to move at all, but I wish I had made an effort to walk, even just 100 steps a day, because I lost a significant amount of muscle in my legs,” she explained. “Regaining that strength has been quite difficult, and I’m now dealing with the consequences while trying to work out. I would tell myself, ‘Stay active. Hydrate well.’ All the important health advice.”

Isabella also expressed a wish that she had kept a more positive outlook during her time in the hospital.

While she is known for her ability to stay positive throughout her treatment, she admitted that her initial reaction to her diagnosis wasn’t particularly hopeful.

“At the beginning of my journey, I found it hard to keep a positive mindset. I often fixated on the worst-case scenarios, which I think was quite damaging,” she reflected.

Isabella noted that she spent a lot of time “researching negative information” about her diagnosis and wishes she had ignored those potential negative outcomes, instead recognizing that her experience is unique to her.

After talking to many people dealing with similar issues, the college student shared her hope that others could learn an important lesson from her journey.

“Keep a positive mindset and don’t let thoughts like, ‘This is the end. Things will never get better,’ take over. I definitely found myself thinking that way, but now I’m working hard to shift my outlook,” she said.

Following her diagnosis, she went through six weeks of radiation, four rounds of chemotherapy, and three brain surgeries. She documented her entire health journey in a series on her YouTube channel.

On July 18, 2024, Isabella posted a vlog titled “Goodbye Hospital,” where she announced that there were no more signs of cancer in her body.

“After an amazing eight months, I finally got to ring the bell. I’m so thankful for my journey,” she shared on Instagram at that time.
