Sometimes you just read a story and a quote from someone, like I did from Ivanka Trump a little while ago, and you take a moment and wonder if this is really what they’re thinking.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you undoubtedly know that the 45th president of the United States was indicted on Thursday by an overzealous New York district attorney. My colleagues here at Red State have been doing an admirable job of writing about that, and here are some of their posts to bring you up to speed to catch up.

As you can see from a sampling of the stories above, what happened yesterday was a bit of a big deal.

Right around the time that Donald Trump announced his bid to win the 2024 Republican nomination for President, his daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared announced that they would not have any role in the campaign going forward. This was a bit stunning, in light of the role that both Jared and Ivanka played in Trump’s presidency from 2017 to 2021. That two of former President Trump’s most trusted advisors decided they would not participate going forward raised some eyebrows in Trump World and Washington, D.C.

Trump’s sons came out firing yesterday but we had not heard from Ivanka until today, and here is what she said. From the Express

Ivanka Trump has released a statement following the indictment of her father, Donald, describing how she is “pained”. The ex-President’s eldest daughter said in a post on Instagram: “I love my father, and I love my country. Today, I am pained for both. I appreciate the voices across the political spectrum expressing support and concern.”

She is “pained.”

Not as much as the country is.

Now, I fully admit that this is all reading the tea leaves and unbridled speculation, and I’ll probably get ripped by some for saying this as anti-Trump. Some might even say that I’m a bit too Pro-Trump. Sometimes the comments on the things that I write across the social media spectrum make me stop and think maybe I needed to drink more as an adult.

I get the sense that maybe Ivanka Trump is a little bit burned out on all of the drama that surrounds the political musings of her father.

There is no argument that Donald Trump is one of the more interesting and maddening politicians that we have had in the past 100 years. The media that has been aided by social media blockades that were done during the 2020 campaign—to block stories like Hunter Biden’s laptop—have made it clear that they declared war on Donald Trump. However, make no mistake about it. Donald Trump loves the drama more than any other elected official, former elected official, or potentially future elected official than any person in history.

He thrives on it.

Maybe. just maybe, his oldest daughter has had enough, as the majority of the country has, with the circus that surrounds her father. That very well might explain her incredibly tepid response to her father being indicted with such an overreach of a charge.

Don Jr and Eric yesterday practically came out in Braveheart garb, ready to go to battle, and Ivanka shrugged her shoulders and said she was pained.

So, let me be absolutely clear here. From all of the reporting that I’ve read at RedState and other sites, the D.A. in New York is trying to make a name for himself by indicting a former President whom he does not like.

Yet, it looks like Ivanka Trump has moved on from the political drama that surrounds her dad 24/7/365.

What remains to be seen is if the Republican party as a whole, which is ramping up for the nomination process, has moved on from that and if not, will the country as a whole? Only time will time with that.
