Known for her popular TV show Cruising with Jane McDonald, the 61-year-old is still in great shape after dropping four stone a few years back.

McDonald made a resolution towards a healthier lifestyle after acknowledging her poor dietary habits; most notably, she lost weight after joining ITV’s Sugar Free Farm reality programme in 2017.

Sugar Free Farm follows celebrities as they try to improve their diets by expelling sugar from their diets; while on the TV show, McDonald met an influential figure.

She met Angelique Panagos, the resident nutritionist at the farm who provided her with a game-changing recipe that perfectly satisfies her cravings when she desires something comforting to eat.

“The only bread I eat is one that I’ve got a recipe for from Angelique,” McDonald formerly told Express.co.uk. “It’s got no yeast in it and it’s made with lots of pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, wholemeal flour, oats and yogurt of all things.”

McDonald added: “It’s literally 20 minutes and it’s made ready to put in the oven. I don’t eat a lot of it but when I’m really craving a bit of starch I just get some out of the freezer and stick it in the toaster and it’s done.”

The former Loose Women panelist revealed that aside from the bread recipe shared by Angelique, she’s cut out white carbohydrates from her diet, such as flour or pasta.

While on Sugar Free Farm, McDonald had shed 9lbs in two weeks, thanks to Angelique and transforming her eating habits.

“I lost a stone and a half from taking part in the TV show Sugar Free Farm,” McDonald revealed. “I used to eat so much rubbish. I didn’t realise how much rubbish I used to eat.”

McDonald elaborated: “I’ve always loved a pie and I was very carbohydrate-led as I was always hungry. I ate far too much and all the wrong things.

“I didn’t realise that if you eat the wrong things, it doesn’t feed your body so you will want more. I like my life, and my schedule takes a lot of energy, but I was beginning to get quite tired and I was blaming it on age.”

McDonald believed it was “normal to have a big waist and a spare tyre” but then she met Angelique who showed her that a slimmer physique and having more energy was possible.

After leaving the farm, Jane continued to implement what she had learned from the show, resulting in an additional weight loss of a stone and a half due by eating healthier.
