Hollywood star and mother-of-three Kate Hudson has shared how she lost an incredible 21 pounds (1.5 stone) thanks to a popular diet.

The 45-year-old said she followed the popular weight loss programme WW, formerly known as Weight Watchers, to lose weight as well as meditating and intermittent fasting.

WW is a weight loss programme and nutritionist-designed food plan that helps people lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

In an interview with Women’s Heath, Kate shared how WW helped her slim down but still indulge occasionally.

She said: “I make beautiful meals that have no points, then I can indulge.”

Some of the foods that contain “no points” include chicken, leafy greens, eggs, non-starchy veggies, and fresh fruit.

Kate, who is now a WW ambassador, added: “I’ll do a whole day eating amazing Zero Point foods, then I have wine and ice cream.”

The actress also practises intermittent fasting which means she doesn’t eat until 11am or 11.30am in the morning. To keep her going, she instead sips on celery juice, coffee or black tea.

Intermittent fasting refers to an eating regime that switches between abstaining from food and eating on a timed schedule.

Other celebrities who swear by intermittent fasting include Jennifer Aniston, Kourtney Kardashian and Halle Berry.

As well as following a strict diet, Kate does pilates and Tracy Anderson Method routines but claims she is not a “crazy workout person”.

She also enjoys bike rides and long walks with her mother Goldie Hawn. Rather than spending hours at the gym, Kate believes people should do the things they love.

She explained to Women’s Health that it’s about “eating the things you want to, exercising and not feeling like you need to [push yourself] for two hours in a hot room”.

Kate also said meditating every day has changed her outlook on life and has helped her lose weight.

She said in an essay for Fabletics in 2017 that meditation has helped her feel “calmer, more centred and clearer-headed”.

The co-founder of the activewear brand added: “Meditation also made me realise that there are times when I thought I had a grasp on what was going on with myself internally. Then I meditated and found that my body was telling me something different.”
