Kate Lawler has admitted she came ‘close to shaking her newborn baby’ during the depths of undiagnosed postnatal depression.
The television personality, 41, welcomed her daughter Noa, one, with her partner Martin ‘Boj’ Bojtos, 38, last year.
In an interview about her debut novel Maybe Baby, the Big Brother star also opened up about struggling with suicidal thoughts.

She told the Sun: ‘I remember rocking her, going: “Shush, shush.” But you’re just like: “Oh my god, please. What can I do?”
‘The sound of a baby crying when you’re emotionally drained, when you haven’t slept and you already feel se depleted.’
She continued: ‘I remember rushing into the bedroom and literally screaming: “I can’t do this any more!” and I put Noa down on the bed firmly, in a way that made me realise I was so close to shaking her, and I ran upstairs to our loft, so scared at what I’d nearly done.’
She added that her partner Martin encouraged her to seek professional help and was able to spot that she wasn’t coping.

It comes after she admitted that having her daughter was the ‘hardest thing I have ever done’ and that she felt ‘regret’ starting a family.

She made the revelation while accepting a GLOMAMA Award for ‘Favourite New Mama’.

Kate accepted the award via video, where she kept things casual by staying in her pyjamas with her daughter Noa.
She has been extremely open and honest about her journey into motherhood and confessed in her acceptance speech that it was ‘challenging’ but ‘rewarding’.
She said: ‘It is the hardest thing I have ever done, it is challenging, it is tough but it is so rewarding and it’s hilarious.’
