KATE and Oliver Hudson’s father, Bill, has revealed in a new interview where he stands with his kids after years of estrangement.
The musician shares Kate, 45, and Oliver, 47, with his ex-wife, Goldie Hawn, 78, though he’s been absent for most of their lives.
During a sit down with US Weekly, Bill, 74, opened up about slowly mending his relationship with his oldest children.
Bill first referenced Kate’s appearance on CBS Sunday Morning last month, in which she noted that the father-daughter pair is “warming up” to one another again.
“Kate put it perfectly. We are warming up [and] letting things take their course,” the vocalist – who was married to Kate’s mother from 1976 to 1982 – shared.
“All families have rifts. It’s nice that our rift is healing.”
ONE STEP AT A TIME
Bill also noted that his relationship with Kate and Oliver had “years of ups and downs,” so they are easing into things.
“There’s no pressure,” the former The Hudson Brothers band member told the outlet.
“We’re just letting it be what it will be. Because no one is pushing it, there’s no turmoil or issues.”
He added that they’re trying to leave their mistakes in the past and focus on moving forward.
“A lot went down, and we aren’t revisiting it,” the actor said.
“No one wants to rehash the past. You can’t move forward if all you’re doing is analyzing the past. We’re in the present.”

Kate and Oliver have also reunited with their stepsiblings, which the Bride Wars star previously mentioned on their podcast, Sibling Revelry.
Bill is also a father to a daughter, Emily, 42, and a son, Zachary, 38, with his late ex-wife, Cindy Williams, and a daughter, Lalania, 18, with his ex, Caroline Graham.
The Big Shots actor couldn’t be happier over the family coming together, telling the publication, “My daughter Emily just had a baby [and] Kate’s been great about that.”
He went on, “It’s great. I love it. We’re all coming back. Everyone has gone through life experiences and all the crap in the public eye and realized that all you have is your family.”

Kate and Oliver have been vocal about their strained bond with their dad and how their stepfather, Kurt Russell, 73, acted as a father figure.
Kurt and Goldie have been longtime partners and are parents to a son, Wyatt, 37.
Oliver spoke about his resentment toward his biological father on an episode of the Daddy Issues podcast in August 2021, saying he felt he “bailed on” them when he left.
The Nashville star also shared that she hadn’t been able to get “closure” since.

Weeks earlier, Oliver shared a tearful post about his dad in honor of Father’s Day.
He shared photos on Instagram of Kurt, his dad, Bill, and a humorous snap of Warren Beatty.
The Rules of Engagement star’s caption read, “It doesn’t really matter which one of these men is my father. My Pa stepped in when I was 6 and made the man I am today.
“My Dad is half of me and as I get to know him I realize how alike we actually are… and there’s a very good chance Warren Beatty is actually my father… HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!! #itsokaytocry.”
