As soon as the new photos of Kate Middleton dropped, the public was skeptical about it being the royal. TMZ posted the first photos of the Princess of Wales in a car driven by her mother near Windsor Castle. The image, however, was extremely grainy and had many convinced that it wasn’t Kate in the passenger seat but rather world-famous actor Katie Holmes.
One person tweeted the photo with the caption, “Katie Holmes in the role of a lifetime.” This specific tweet garnered nearly 30 thousand likes and over a thousand retweets, and it wasn’t the only one. Another user tweeted the photo with the caption, “Katie Holmes Everybody!!!!” The Katie-posing-as-Kate theory has gained some traction across the internet. We hate to break it to conspiracy theorists, but it wasn’t the “Dawson’s Creek” actor in the photo.
On March 4, 2024, the same day the first photo of Kate post-surgery was released, a separate photo of Holmes in New York also dropped. Holmes was nowhere near the U.K. as she participated in the Roundabout Gala in New York, as documented by People. The event celebrates the achievements of Broadway theaters and supports the Roundabout Theater Company in its mission to cultivate artists’ work. So no, it wasn’t Holmes posing as Kate in the U.K. While that theory has been debunked, the internet is still going wild about Kate’s latest appearance and how the photo looks very little like the royal.
