Katie Thurston, the 34-year-old star of ‘The Bachelorette,’ has shared an unsettling update regarding her battle with breast cancer.
Last month, she disclosed her diagnosis on Instagram, and in a recent update on her Instagram Stories, she indicated that her condition might have advanced from stage 3 to stage 4 due to the detection of cancerous signs in her liver, which has led her to halt her treatment.

“My biopsy is set for Friday, which coincides with my scheduled treatment day,” she posted on March 24. “Now, we wait.”
She expressed concern, stating, “It seems I am leaning more towards the possibility of cancer in the liver rather than being optimistic that it is nothing. This would classify me as stage 4. I would appreciate insights from my sisters who are at stage 4 regarding quality of life, motherhood, and so forth.”
Furthermore, Thurston informed her followers on her Instagram channel, “Boobie Broadcast,” that two liver lesions, measuring up to 1.4 cm, were identified, likely indicating “metastatic disease.”
Despite experiencing fatigue, nausea, and pain, Thurston remains hopeful about the biopsy results. She humorously remarked on feeling like a “voodoo doll” due to the numerous medical procedures she has undergone.

Thurston first revealed her breast cancer diagnosis on Instagram on February 15, sharing candid photos along with the caption, “Life update: I have breast cancer.” She mentioned that she received the diagnosis two weeks prior to her announcement and described the emotional turmoil she experienced upon receiving the news, which included feelings of despair, anger, sadness, denial, and ultimately, strength. “I felt purposeful and ready. I cried a lot. I even attempted to create a video instead of this post but couldn’t bring myself to do it.”
The reality television personality expressed her desire to share her experience in order to assist others facing similar challenges. She wrapped up her message by stating that although the “initial step of accepting my reality was the most difficult,” she intended to “combat this.”
Thurston subsequently appeared on Good Morning America to talk about her response to the diagnosis of stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma.
“[It’s like] the worst feeling I’ve ever experienced,” Thurston said, her eyes filled with tears as she reflected on her diagnosis. “You’re just devastated. It’s incredibly shocking.”
“As a 34-year-old woman, you simply aren’t prepared for this,” she remarked.
“You enter survival mode. You don’t have a choice; you either show up or you succumb,” she elaborated. “And I dislike phrasing it that way, but it’s true — every day involves an appointment. You must show up; there’s no alternative.”
