Keana Barnes’s case aired on the TV docu-series, Snapped on December 3, 2017. Season 22, Episode 3, of the docu-series told the story of how two men helped our a damsel in distress and ended up getting murdered.

Keana was serving a 25-year sentence at the Lousiana Correctional Institute for Women, when she escaped the prison on January 1, 2013. She broke her dorm room window and climbed out of it. She climbed over the premier gate and escaped the prison.
Barnes was captured in late March that year and got taken into the custody of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The TV one’s Fatal Attraction also aired the case in their episode, The Helping Hand. The crime show included experts and investigators retracing the murder.

Keana Barnes’s parents have preferred to stay away from the limelight. Authorities have not released the information about her family and personal life to the media.
Barnes was added to the US Marshals Service’s 15 Most Wanted Fugitive list in March 2013, reports WDSU.

Keana Barnes became friends with P.J. Jennings and James Robert Shepherd in New Orleans. She stabbed James to death in 2003 at his Irish Bayou home.
She shot P.J. Jennings in his head and wrapped his body in bed covers in his Algiers home in 2004. His mother found the body and immediately contacted the police.
Jennings was a former US soldier who always tried to help people in need. His helpful spirit led to his murder, as he was found dead in his apartment. The police found a strange piece of paper in his pocket that led them to capture the murderer.
