Kendall Jenner is being slammed for promoting ‘dangerous drinking’ to her fans, after she posted a photo of herself sipping tequila straight from the bottle through a straw in a new ad for her alcohol brand, 818.
The model, 26, sparked outrage after she uploaded the ‘irresponsible’ picture to Instagram on Wednesday, while sharing a bunch of photos of the ‘things she loves.’
It showed her starring away from the camera in a black dress, while she appeared to drink tequila through a straw.
Based on her outfit, it’s believed that the snap was taken at her friend Lauren Perez’s wedding back in November, which took place in Miami, Florida.
Many people found the post unsettling and mercilessly ridiculed the reality star, voicing outrage over her encouraging her followers to drink ‘poison’ that can ‘ruin peoples lives’ and promoting ‘binge drinking.’

Others claimed they would ‘gag’ if they tried to drink tequila like that and said just the thought of it made them want to ‘vomit’
A few users even accused Kendall of faking the photo
‘She’s proud of selling poison that ruins people’s lives?’ one disgruntled person quipped on Reddit. ‘It’s worse than her sisters’ fast fashion.’
‘This is a really dangerous pictured honestly,’ someone else agreed. ‘There is a reason “Drink responsibly” exists.’
Another added: ‘I think this type of promo is actually quite irresponsible.’
‘She’s drinking liquor directly from the bottle with a straw. It’s not a responsible way to drink. It promotes binge drinking,’ a fourth angry user said.
‘It’s rather irresponsible advertising to encourage people to consume alcohol like that,’ read another message.

‘Tequila doesn’t taste good enough to be drank with a straw,’ someone said.
‘The thought of drinking tequila from a bottle with a straw makes me want to vomit,’ added another.
A different Reddit user asked: ‘Who drinks tequila like that as if it’s water?’
‘I’m a recovering alcoholic, and that image just made me not finish my dinner, and I’m worried about what I already ate,’ one person shared.

This certainly isn’t the first time that the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star has faced the furor over her tequila brand
Back in February 2021, after she first launched 818, the star was accused of cultural appropriation for having no real affiliation to Mexico – where tequila hails from
She also faced criticism for naming her spirit after the Calabasas area code and appearing to overlook tequila’s deep-rooted Mexican legacy
A few users even accused Kendall of faking the photo, with one writing, ‘You really think she’s drinking it like this? Lol I bet she isn’t even drinking as much as she wants us to believe for the promo.’
‘OK I refuse to believe any tequila can be drunk straight from the bottle with a straw,’ another agreed.

Back in February 2021, after she first launched 818, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star was accused of cultural appropriation for having no real affiliation to Mexico – where tequila hails from – since she grew up in the affluent community of Calabasas.
At the time, she said she spent ‘four years’ trying to create the ‘best tasting tequila’ on the market, and was proud that she finally did it
Social media users wasted no time in bashing the eldest Jenner sister, with one user calling the venture ‘gentrification’ since she had ‘zero knowledge on Mexican culture’

‘What about those smaller, family owned Mexican tequila/mezcal brands? They deserve the hype and support,’ one user wrote.
Another outraged fan said, ‘Kendall Jenner starting a tequila company does not sit with with me at all… She’s an unseasoned white privileged rich girl from Calabasas. What the Hell does she know about tequila?! Couldn’t you have started a wine company instead?!’
‘Tired of the celebrity tequila craze,’ wrote a third. ‘WTF does @KendallJenner know about tequila? My family’s been doing back breaking work in the fields for their entire lives in Jalisco just for people to come dip their toes. Stay in your lane.’
In September, Kendall announced that 818 was going to donate ‘back to the community of Jalisco,’ where the tequila was made.
