“So today I am getting a basal cell carcinoma removed from my head,” Kevin said in a video on Instagram on Tuesday.

He zoomed in on the skin abnormality on his forehead, saying, “Yes, that is an actual little skin cancer guy that started to grow.

“Now I have to get surgery to remove it. So here we go.”

The Jonas Brothers star then filmed himself after the surgery and winced as he lifted up the gauze to reveal his fresh scar.

He was careful to block out the graphic image with an emoji.

“Alright, I’m all done,” he added, this time sitting in his car. “Now it’s time to heal, heading home.”

The musician – who has two kids with his wife Danielle – concluded, “Make sure to get those moles checked, people!”

“Friendly reminder to get your moles checked [prayer emoji],” he added in his caption.

Kevin’s comments section was flooded with messages of support, including from The Skin Cancer Foundation.

“So sorry to hear about your BCC, Kevin. Thank you for raising awareness,” the organization wrote.

Kevin Jonas’ daughter Alena, 10, looks like his ‘twin’ as she dresses like singer as fans point out reason he’s ‘lucky’

“Early detection is key. Wishing you the best on your recovery journey.”

A fan, who is a cancer survivor, added, “Thank you for being real and honest about your situation.

“Skin cancer is always looked at from a ‘cut it off and done’ kinda cancer. You sharing opens doors for others to realize how important it is to check your skin!

“Hope surgery went well and keep sharing your experiences, it truly matters.”

What is basal cell carcinoma?

Basal cell carcinoma is a type of skin cancer.

It begins in the basal cells – a type of cell within the skin that produces new skin cells as old ones die off, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Basal cell carcinoma often appears as a slightly transparent bump on the skin, though it can take other forms – including a brown, black, or blue lesion, a flat, scaly patch, or a white, waxy, scar-like lesion.

Basal cell carcinoma occurs most often on areas of the skin that are exposed to the sun, such as your head and neck.

Most basal cell carcinomas are thought to be caused by long-term exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sunlight. Avoiding the sun and using sunscreen may help protect against basal cell carcinoma.

Kevin’s surgery came during a break in the Jonas Brothers’ touring schedule.

Their last stop was in Cancún, Mexico, on April 30.

The famous trio will return with The Tour in Mexico City on August 21.

Their dates in Mexico were postponed last month when Nick Jonas revealed he was battling the flu.

“A couple days ago I started feeling kind of rough, lost my voice when I had woken up and grinded that night out to be able to play the show in Cancún,” Nick explained on Instagram.

The band apologized for the inconvenience caused and promised to “bring 120 per cent in August.”
