The TV personality, opened up about his graphic dreams in a 3am social media post after one of the nightmares left him unable to sleep.

Kirk said: ‘I keep reliving when I found my dad. I have not had that dream in a while, that normally comes back to me in the day, like flashbacks in the day.

‘It’s so vivid. The lights, the smell of the day, everything, I can picture everything. But the dreams are normally me losing all my family and losing myself. Like my family either killing themselves or dying of cancer – me dying.’

The TV star, who now runs a jet washing service, reveals he gets woken up with nightmares one or two times a night and struggles with flashbacks during the day.

He said: ‘It’s my journey, I’ve got to carry on and not let it get to me. It’s hard when it gets to you in your sleep, it gets in your head. But all I can do is carry on.

‘I get woke up because the nightmares I’m having are disgusting and vile. They’re just nightmares of all my family either dying from illnesses or committing suicide.’

Kirk said at night he has to get up and walk around the house if he starts getting nightmares but, in the day, he can cope with them better.

‘In the day with the flashbacks it is easier to forget about them because you’re active,’ he added.

‘Your brain is doing other things in the day so you can quickly do something, but in the middle of the night that’s when it’s hard.’

‘Everything hits you at night because your brain is shut off. You have done what you’ve done the day before and you haven’t really got your mind on the next day because its stupid o’clock in the morning.’

Kirk said he must check in with family members after the nightmares have passed to make sure they are okay.

He has even booked himself a private doctor’s appointment to get a check over after having recurring dreams of having cancer to get reassurance that he isn’t.

Kirk said: ‘I know I’m not because in my head I’m saying, “Kirk you’re alright, you’re fine’, but I genuinely feel like I’m riddled with cancer.”

‘That’s in my head and it’s been like that for the last three weeks at the moment.’

He added: ‘I’m aware that your mind is a very crazy place up there. Just as long as you are aware of these signs and know they are just thoughts.’
