While interviewing stars on the Oscars red carpet, Laverne Cox asked Marlee Matlin a question and handed the microphone to her.
Since Marlee is deaf and communicates via sign language, Laverne was supposed to pass the device to the latter’s interpreter.
Before answering Laverne’s question, Marlee began to respond in sign language.
As she replied to the Promising Young Woman star’s inquiry, she moved the microphone to her translator.
