Lilia Vu is an American professional golfer who joined the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour, a series of weekly golf tournaments for elite female professional golfers from around the world, in 2019. In 2021, she won 3 titles on the Symetra Tour (now known as the Epson Tour, the official developmental golf tour of the LPGA Tour) – the Garden City Charity Classic, the Twin Bridges Championship, and the Four Winds Invitational. Her best performance in the majors, as of October 2022, was a tie for 10th place at the 2022 Women’s PGA Championship. She finished the 2021 season on top of the tour’s money list and won the ‘Symetra Tour Player of the Year’ award, earning her LPGA Tour card for 2022. In October 2022, she reached a career-best 44th position on the Women’s World Golf Rankings, the official rankings chart for elite female professional golfers.

  1. Lilia first came into the spotlight in 2014 when she finished as the runner-up at the AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) Girls Championship. About 2 years later, she won the 2016 Women’s Southern California Amateur Championship.
  2. During her time at the University of California, Los Angeles (2015-2019), she was named the ‘Pac-12 Conference (a collegiate athletic conference that operates in the Western United States) Freshman of the Year’ in 2016 and the ‘Pac-12 Conference Golfer of the Year’ in 2018. She ended her collegiate career on top of her university’s all-time career victory list with 8 individual titles to her name.
  3. She was also a 3-time ‘WGCA (Women’s Golf Coaches Association) First Team All-American’ and was named the ‘WGCA Player of the Year’ in 2018. That year, she was also a finalist for the prestigious ‘Honda Award’, an annual award in the United States, given to the best collegiate female athlete in each of the 12 major collegiate sports (basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, track & field, volleyball, soccer, and lacrosse).
  4. In team events, representing the United States, at the amateur tier, she won 3 prestigious tournaments in 2018 – The Curtis Cup (the best-known team trophy for female amateur golfers, contested by teams representing the United States and ‘Great Britain & Ireland’); The Arnold Palmer Cup (an annual team golf competition for college/university golfers which, since 2018, has been contested between a United States team and an international team representing the rest of the world); and The Espirito Santo Trophy (a biennial world amateur team championship for female golfers that is organized by the International Golf Federation, the world governing body for the sport).
  5. She stood first in the World Amateur Golf Ranking for 31 weeks in 2018 and 2019. Her stint ended when she turned professional in January 2019.
