Louie Anderson Dead: What Killed Him? Louie Anderson, a beloved stand-up comedian, Primetime Emmy winner, actor, and game show host, died at the age of 68 after a battle with cancer.
Anderson was hospitalized earlier this week after being diagnosed with DLBCL (diffuse large B cell lymphoma).
He passed away in Las Vegas. Glenn Schwartz, his publicist, confirmed the news.
Anderson won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2016 for his role as Christine Baskets, Chip and Dale’s mother (twins both played by Zach Galifianakis). The actor was nominated in the category three years in a row, and he previously won Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for his work on Fox’s “Life with Louie” in 1997 and 1998.

Anderson was born and raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and made his late-night network debut on “The Tonight Show” as a stand-up comic. Throughout his career, he has hosted numerous stand-up specials, most recently “Louie Anderson: Big Underwear” in 2018.
Anderson’s other credits include co-starring in the 1998 film “Coming to America” with Eddie Murphy, as well as the film’s 2021 sequel, “Coming 2 America.”
He appeared on television in “The New Hollywood Squares,” “Drunk History,” “Search Party,” “Young Sheldon,” and as a host of “Family Feud” from 1999 to 2002, as well as guest appearances on shows such as “Ally McBeal,” “Scrubs,” Remington Steele,” and “Grace Under Fire.”
One of Louie’s most beloved roles came in 2016, when he played Christine Baskets in the FX sitcom Baskets. The show earned him a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the 2016 Emmy Awards. He was nominated for the award twice more in 2017 and 2018. The 2010s also saw Louie releasing two more standup specials, and he reprised his role as Maurice in the 2021 sequel Coming 2 America.
