Maren, 34, opened up about her sexy new track, Push Me Over, in an interview with Billboard.

She told the outlet that all of. the songs on her new EP, Intermission, are reflections of her real life.

Push Me Over is the raciest track on the EP, and according to Maren it’s about her bisexuality.

The country singer collaborated on the track with the group Muna, whom she has affectionately referred to as “the Professors of Gay.”

Maren said she turned to them after her first date with a woman.

“I remember I had been on a date with this girl, and the date went amazing, but I had so many questions for Muna the next day,” she said.

“I truly felt like a student and I was with, like, the Professors of Gay. They were obviously so supportive, and it made this the easiest song to wrote.”

Maren concluded, “It just puts a pep in my step and I feel like I could have only written it with them.”

The song includes lyrics like, “Necklace rests just so, on your collarbone / Makes me want to know / How your perfume smells on me later / Can you take control? Show me where to go / Ain’t been here before / Don’t know what it is, but I like the flavor.”

COMING OUT

The Middle singer came out as bisexual in June, sharing the news on her Instagram feed.

She posted photos from a performance at a Pride event with the caption, “Happy to be the B in LGBTQ+. Happy pride.”

Fans in the comments showed their support for the star.

“Happy Pride, an actual icon!” one supporter celebrated.

“HAPPY PRIDE! Thanks for being an inspiration, and what a special pride this one is!” a second gushed.

“My favorite bicon. Happy Pride, angel!” a third fan posted.

“A fellow bicon! So much love for you!” a fourth person gushed.

“Happy Pride, you perfect human! So proud of you,” a commentator wrote.

LETTING GO

Maren also appeared to write a song about her divorce from Ryan.

She divorced her husband in October 2023 after five years of marriage.

The pair cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.

Her latest EP includes a song called How a Woman Leaves, which features lyrics like, “Not gonna try and be your friend / All I want is you to get out of me heart, out of my head.

“This is how a woman leaves.”

The song continues, “Even though it’s killing me / I’ll make it look so easy / That even I believe me / Go ahead and look me in the eye / Go ahead and tell me you’re surprised.”

It ends with a devastating line that states, “You have the nerve to ask why I’m not crying.

“I did all my crying lying next to you.”

Maren explained the meaning behind the song in an Instagram Video on July 29, calling the collection a “break in the act” and the beginning of a “new chapter.”

“Calling this project Intermission was intentional,” she said.

“It’s obviously a lyric at the end of the song Cut!, but it’s also meaning that there’s more to come.”

Maren released the lead single, Cut!, in June.

“[Intermission is] a break in the act, and for me, it’s definitely an act break and new chapter of my life, and I’m so ready to see what’s on the other page,” she went on to say in her Instagram video.

“I just am so proud of this music. It wasn’t easy to write because I’m going through a lot, and this is the diary of that.”

Maren also said that Intermission is a departure from her country music roots and is “the most fun music as well as the most heartbreaking” because it’s her way of exploring her true feelings.

“I’m allowing myself to go there – ’cause I don’t have to protect anyone anymore,” she said.
