McDonald’s has released a recipe for its Sausage and Egg McMuffin after fans said they were missing the breakfast treat following the closure of all the chain’s UK stores due to coronavirus.
Taking to social media, hundreds of fast food fans have revealed they’re desperate to get their hands on the McMuffin, with many attempting the creation themselves.
And while they can’t get their hands on the real thing, McDonald’s has put fans out of their misery by making the recipe public in an unprecedented step for the chain, which usually keeps its secrets tightly guarded.
In a recipe shared with FEMAIL, McDonald’s revealed that all you need is an English muffin, 75g of sausage meat, two eggs and a slice of American cheese.
To make a hash brown for the side, all you need is potato and some olive oil.

‘We’re not saying it will be as good as the real thing, but for now it’s the best way to keep those taste buds satisfied in lockdown,’ McDonald’s said in a statement.
It comes as dozens of fast food fans have taken to social media to share they miss the McDonald’s breakfast, with some attempting their own go at the tasty meal.
Tik Tok user Abbie, who goes by the username @tiktorkers, shared a video on herself making the meal at home, saying it was her favourite quarantine breakfast.
Taking to Twitter, hundreds have shared pictures of their attempt at the treat.
‘Didn’t think I’d miss Sausage & Egg McMuffin this much’ one said.

Others have taken to social media to share their creations of Big Macs, chicken nuggets and thinly cut fries.

Food influencer Leanne Loves Cooking, submitted a photograph to Homemade McDonald’s Instagram account showing her Big Mac, along with a lengthy explanation of how she made the burger.
She revealed she’d crafted the meaty patty by mixing together a pack of minced beef with salt and pepper before moulding it into the shape of the classic burger.
She then combined a range of condiments including mayonnaise, garlic powder, gherkin relish and white wine vinegar to recreate the signature sauce.
Another amateur chef submitted a table full of home made cheese burgers and chicken nuggets, served with chips.
A stream of attempts at making the brand’s famous Big Mac burger, as well as the chain’s ‘burger sauce’, have delighted the page’s 5,000 followers,
Simon Wood, who was the MasterChef Champion in 2015, posted a clip on his Instagram telling followers the best way to recreate McDonald’s Big Mac sauce.
He told parents that cooking the dish could be a way of keeping children entertained while in quarantined.
Revealing that the sauce can be made using ingredients commonly found in kitchen cupboards, Simon explained that they just need to be combined together in a bowl.
