Dr Michael Mosley recommended against snacking unless it’s a healthy option and won’t cause a person to overeat on their daily calorie limit. But he revealed there’s one delicious treat that will promote weight loss by satisfying cravings and it provides numerous other health benefits and have been proven “good” for overall health.
Speaking during his BBC podcast Just One Thing, Dr Mosley said: “It’s the middle of the afternoon and I’ve found myself in a slump and I really feel like a snack.
“I’ve got a seriously sweet tooth, so much so, that I don’t usually have any sugary treats in the house because I know I’ll just eat them.
“I allow myself just one thing that can satisfy my cravings but may even lower my blood sugar, improve my cardiovascular health and even boost my brain,” he explained.
The all-important item is dark chocolate.
“A couple of squares of the really dark stuff can be really good for you!” the nutritionist added.

According to experts at Healthifyme, it is best eaten 20 minutes before a meal intruder to curb cravings.
But it is still loaded with calories and fat, so is easy to overeat.
It also contains sugar but the amounts are much smaller than milk chocolate, and the darker the chocolate, the less sugar it will contain.
Doctors at Medicover Hospitals labelled the treat a “waist-whittling saviour” if not eaten excessively.
They recommended people choose a chocolate that has more than 70 percent cocoa or higher, and they should also aim for one that has zero percent milk solids, extra syrups, or other pronounceable ingredients.
