MICHAEL Strahan might not have been a quarterback, but he did throw a serious jab at his Good Morning America co-hosts.
The former NFL defensive end shaded his morning show crew while showering praise on a rival group.
Michael helped lead the last Fox NFL Sunday of the regular season yesterday.
On Monday, he shared a carousel of special moments from the past year to his Instagram account.
The 52-year-old flashed his trademark gap-toothed smile as he laughed and hugged his colleagues.
But then, in a savage slap at his weekday job, Michael expressed in the caption, “Best team in the business!”
It’s not clear how Michael’s Good Morning America team reacted to his shout-out, especially since he wasn’t even there for Monday’s show.
Linsey Davis took Michael’s place once more for his most recent time away.
As per usual, when the Hall of Famer handles his NFL hosting duties on the rival network, he will usually be out the following Monday.
Michael will likely be returning for Tuesday’s edition of the morning show.
However, sometimes Michael does have other projects beyond hosting that he’s working on, which can take him away from his post for extended periods.
TRUE BROTHERHOOD
Michael showed just how much his Fox teammates mean to him when he joined them in Dallas New Year’s Eve, to watch co-host Jimmy Johnson’s induction into the Cowboys Ring of Honor.
Jimmy was a two-time Super Bowl champion as coach of the Dallas Cowboys from 1989 to 1993.
The 80-year-old was honored in front of his Fox colleagues at AT&T Stadium during the game against the Detroit Lions.
The entire crew made a quick dash back to Los Angeles for Sunday’s pregame show, where he reflected on the big day.
“That was special, we weren’t going to miss that,” Michael told NFL on Fox host Charissa Thompson. “You don’t miss moments like that, it’s special to each one of us.
“I’ve been there for 16 years. It’s such a brotherhood over there.”
SUPER ANNOUNCEMENT
Last week, Michael teased a big announcement that could keep him away from GMA even more.
The Michael Strahan clothing brand Instagram was the first to share the news, and the host reposted it.
Next to a photo of a colorful Super Bowl jacket, he let followers know about the upcoming project.
“Still not over our 2023 MSX x STARTER Super Bowl Collection? Well we have some news for you… Stay tuned for an epic announcement,” the caption read.
In addition to the first jacket, there were other items included in the post.
A bright yellow jacket with an Arizona postage stamp was included in the post.
A red Super Bowl jacket with the game’s logo stitched on the inside was held by a model.
Another bright jacket with rainbow stitching was shown in the post.
Michael dropped a similar set of jackets in February 2023 for that year’s Super Bowl.
