Michelle Heaton has revealed the shocking toll her alcohol and drugs addiction took on her hair.

Sharing before and after photos after paying a visit to a salon, the former singer – who went to rehab in April to help battle her cocaine and alcohol addiction – said: ‘This was filmed only this morning, That’s the harsh reality of what my hair became.’

The star, 41, documented the poor condition her brown tresses were in when she arrived at a London salon on Friday alongside two radiant new snaps of herself rocking bouncy, glossy curls after her appointment.

Looking radiant, the doting mother told fans while pouting for the camera: ‘It’s funny (not really funny) but still funny, how stress … hormones … alcohol … drugs … diet … fitness all effects the hair!’ [sic]

She added: ‘This was filmed only this morning, That’s the harsh reality of what my hair became. And so this is me now.’ [sic]

Michelle revealed she had extensions added and also had her hair dyed, adding the hashtags ‘extensions’, ‘hair colour’ and ‘in recovery’.

Last month, the star revealed she had been ‘close to death’ after admitting she had been drinking as much as a bottle of vodka, two bottles of wine and snorting cocaine every day since 2018.

In April this year, she went on a three-day-long cocaine bender, and was later rushed to The Priory for rehab.

Close celebrity friends, including Katie Price had intervened to get Michelle help with her addictions.

‘What I was doing was a suicide mission. I was crying out for help when I couldn’t actually ask for help. When you’re an addict, it feels like there’s no way out’ she told The Sun, just 36 hours after leaving rehab.

At the end of June, Michelle proudly revealed she was 60 days sober.

She took to her Instagram to share the great news with her 231K followers, writing: ‘Today I am 60 days clean and sober.’

She also took to to social media last month to praise husband Hugh Hanley, who she married in 2010.

She called him her ‘rock, best friend and biggest supporter.’
