Minister Swaraj was admitted to AIIMS on November 7 and is being monitored by a team of doctors. According to the sources at AIIMS, “Her condition is stable. Her history of chronic diabetes has affected her kidney functioning. She is on dialysis.”

‘”Presently, I am on dialysis. I am undergoing tests for a Kidney transplant. Lord Krishna will bless,” tweeted Minister Swaraj.’

The 64-year-old BJP leader was admitted to the AIIMS in April for the treatment of respiratory problems. Minister Swaraj has been suffering from diabetes for almost 20 years.

Kidney failure is a condition in which the kidneys fail to adequately filter metabolic wastes from the blood. Almost 66% kidney failure occurs due to hypertension or diabetes.

Dialysis is the process for removing excess water and waste from the blood and used as an artificial replacement for lost kidney function in chronic kidney failure condition.
