Actor Charlie Cox – who plays Matt Murdock, otherwise known as the superhero Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – has opened up about an embarrassing, yet hilarious moment in one of his local cinema chains.

Heading to the movie theatre to check out the reaction to his character’s appearance in recent release Spider-Man: No Way Home, he was shocked when those in attendance didn’t make a single sound after he showed up on the big screen.

Speaking with Radio Times, he explained: “It’s funny, I got so many text messages and so many calls about that moment in the cinema. My nephew sent me a recording of everyone cheering. So I snuck into a movie theater near where I live and literally stood in the corridor… and, sadly, my experience was it was dead f**king quiet!

“I was so disappointed – my wife was with me and she was recording me, because it’d be fun to have that moment of everyone cheering, and then… tumbleweed!”

Thankfully, it seems to be a moment that Cox can now look back on and find the humour in, but just how nice would it have been for the star to revel in the excitement of his debut on the big screen in an MCU movie, with a reaction video to share with the world?

Cox knows that audiences love him, as he had an incredible wave of support following his debut in the Netflix original series Daredevil, before also appearing in The Defenders. There were also countless videos doing the rounds on social media, with some crowds jumping to their feet in excitement when he appeared in No Way Home; so he just picked the wrong screening to attend!

Exactly where his Marvel journey goes from here remains to be seen, but it’s clear that Marvel Studios don’t mind including him in their latest projects.

The actor teased in the same interview that he knew “something” about where he may spring up next, but in typical fashion when stars of the MCU are asked about these projects, he couldn’t reveal much else.

Meanwhile, Sony Pictures has confirmed that Spider-Man: No Way Home will come to digital release on March 22nd, 2022, before hitting 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD on April 4th, 2022. We’re looking forward to experiencing the breathtaking spectacle all over again, from the comfort of our sofas.
