Three and a half cups of self-raising flour

One cup of thickened cream

One cup of lemonade

METHOD

1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl with a knife until nearly combined.

2. Tip onto a floured surface and turn three or four times until the dough comes together. Then, gently pat it into one inch discs.

3. Cut using a scone cutter and do not twist the cutter as this will affect how the dough rises.

4. Add to a lined air fryer basket. Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for eight to 10 minutes, flip and bake for a further four minutes.

5. Serve with whipped cream and jam.

‘These look amazing, thanks so much for sharing your recipe,’ one woman wrote.

‘We make these all the time. If you don’t have any lemonade, beer works just as well,’ another commenter added.

A third wrote: ‘I’m making these tomorrow as a Sunday treat’.

This isn’t the first air fryer recipe to go viral.

In the past, home cooks have used the budget device to make everything from main meals like pork roasts to delicious sides including halloumi fries and puddings.

One particularly popular recipe was another woman’s one for pavlova in the air fryer – which she made in just 40 minutes and shaved off nearly an hour of the regular cooking time.

Australian mother Connie Di Salvo followed the traditional recipe which is made with egg whites, white vinegar, cornflour, sugar and a dash of vanilla extract, and posted photos of her finished dessert in a cookery group on Facebook.

Connie, who had never made a pavlova before, said it cooked ‘perfectly’ in the air fryer with a crunchy outside and a marshmallow inside that melted in the mouth, exactly as meringue should.
