On Omicron, there has recently been some good news from the UK’s Covid hotspot, London, as cases and hospitalisations have begun to fall in some of the city’s boroughs.

This has provided hope, albeit hope yet to be confirmed with data, that London may have passed its Omicron peak and could provide an indication as to when other parts of the UK will reach their own peaks.

This comes at a time when the NHS is at full stretch because of staff shortages and the recent influx of Covid and non-Covid patients.

Furthermore, in a blow to people who work in professions where they’re required to test often, there is discussion over whether to end making lateral flow tests freely available.
