A model who spent more than $50,000 on boob jobs said the fake breasts ‘poisoned her body’ and almost ‘ruined her life’ – after she developed a rare illness that was caused by the implants.
Karmen Karma, 30, from Los Angeles, California, got two breast enlargements – one in 2014 and one in 2018.
Although the first one went well, after the second surgery, the OnlyFans star became very sick.
She suddenly developed chronic fatigue, migraines, brain fog, difficulty breathing, depression, and weight gain.
Karmen said she was so ill, most days she couldn’t get out of bed or even take care of her then-two-year-old daughter.
After seeing many doctors and undergoing a lot of tests, she was eventually diagnosed with a condition called Breast Implant Illness (BII).

After a year of struggling, she decided to get her implants removed – and right away she felt better.
Now, she is sharing her story with the world so she can warn other women about the condition.
The mom-of-two first got her breasts enlarged in 2014, going from a size 34B to 34F.
Despite being satisfied at first, Karmen admitted that she started feeling pressure to ‘look a certain way’ in her job, so she decided to upgrade the size of the implants from 300cc to 800cc. And unlike her first surgery, this one nearly ended in tragedy.
‘I felt a lot of pressure to look a certain way while performing scenes in the adult industry,’ Karmen, who also works as a porn star, told Jam Press.
‘I felt that if I wanted to get booked for scenes and to be successful I had to have bigger breasts.
‘My first breast implants in 2014 were completely fine and I was happy with those but as soon as I sized up to an extremely large silicone implant I started experiencing sickness. Almost straight away I didn’t feel right.
‘I had migraines every single day and my fatigue was so extreme that I couldn’t get out of bed.
‘I would have to take at least three naps a day – I felt so ill I thought I was dying.’
At the time, Karmen was living in California with her husband and daughter, who was just two years old.

Speaking out: Now, she is sharing her story with the world so she can warn other women about the condition
‘It got so bad that I had trouble taking care of my toddler because I needed so much sleep,’ she said.
‘I gained weight, I had trouble taking in large breaths of air and I basically couldn’t function as a normal human being.
‘I initially got the surgery so I could be more successful in porn but I ended up only being able to shoot two scenes in a whole year.
‘It was so frustrating, especially not being able to take care of my daughter.
‘My body just couldn’t function and I would cry all the time because I wanted to live a normal life again.
‘I desperately wanted to figure out what was making me sick so badly.’
Although she suspected her breast implants were the issue, Karmen saw countless doctors and specialists, and her tests kept ‘coming back normal.’
After getting the implants removed, Karmen (pictured after surgery) saw a change right away, saying: ‘I could breathe easier, my migraines went away, and I no longer needed naps’
She said it was then that she realized how much the ‘implants had poisoned her body.’ She added: ‘For the year after that operation, having fake breasts ruined my life.’ She is pictured after she got her breast implants removed
The lack of answers left the mom feeling drained and desperate to get help.
She continued: ‘I wanted to know if it could be anything other than my implants that was making me sick. All of my test results kept coming back normal.
‘I even had an in-lab sleep study done overnight to see if maybe there was something going on with my sleep that was causing me all of these symptoms.
‘When that came back fine too I decided to get off birth control to see if that was the culprit – but nothing helped.
‘In the end I was convinced that it was the implants that were making me ill.’
In 2019, Karmen made the decision to have her implants removed – and she ‘instantly felt better.’
‘I had to have full breast explant surgery combined with a breast lift, immediately afterwards, due to the implants being so large,’ she explained. ‘As soon as they were gone, I instantly felt better.
‘I could breathe easier, my migraines went away and I no longer needed naps during the day and felt the healthiest I had felt in a long long time.
‘It was only then that I realized just how much my implants were poisoning my body.
‘For the year after that operation, having fake breasts ruined my life.’
