The jury selection process for Pablo Lyle’s case began on September 20. The trial is set to begin either at the end of this week or the next week. The court questioned potential jurors numerous questions while also listening to the lawyers’ viewpoints as they tried to choose a panel that would hear the case. However, the issue of jurors violating the rules was also raised. Pablo’s counsel asked the court to dismiss the panel, but the judge, Marisa Tinkler Mendez, refused.

“This subject received a lot of attention, but that is not proof. Anything outside the courtroom is not admissible as evidence.”

However, the judge did not dismiss the first set of possible jurors right once but instead proceeded to examine them. The procedure will be repeated until a particular set of jurors and alternates is selected. Mendez went on to say,

“Mr. Lyle, as he sits here, he is accused of a crime, but according to one of the most essential rules in this house, as well as laws of criminal law and constitutionalism, that guy is innocent.”
