Paulina Porizkova has opened up about being single after the death of her estranged husband Ric Ocasek, saying she isn’t meant to be alone and wants to find a ‘mate for life.’

The 55-year-old model, who has been mourning the loss of The Cars frontman for over a year, took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a glamorous selfie while comparing her romantic life to the mating habits of geese.

‘So, what’s wrong with being single? There are ducks and there are geese. Geese mate for life,’ she wrote. ‘One of the many important things I’ve learned recently, (besides my abandonment issues, daddy issues, narcissism issues, control issues, permanent anxiety and sometimes depression issues — as explained by my friends) is that I AM A GOOSE. Not a duck.’

Paulina explained that while people are constantly telling her the virtues of being single, she knows that she is meant to have a partner.

‘I love to experience life with someone else. I hear you when you tell me that solitude is beautiful, that I have to love myself before I can love others, and all that stuff. And I’ll reply with, yes. That is your way,’ she said.

‘I admire and respect your fondness for your own company. You’re better off not having to rely on anyone else. Sometimes I envy you. But it is NOT me. I am a goose.’

Paulina ended the post with a series of hashtags that noted her photo was unretouched, and she has never had any Botox or fillers.

The supermodel met her late husband on the set of the music video for The Cars’ hit ‘Drive’ in 1984. At the time, Ric was married to his second wife Suzanne Ocasek, whom he divorced four years after meeting a then 18-year-old Paulina.

In September, she shared a candid Instagram post revealing that she has come to learn that their ‘love started with a betrayal of his then-wife,’ something she had never discussed before.

Paulina and Ric had two sons together, Jonathan and Oliver, and were married for nearly three decades before they quietly separated in 2017.

The mother of two was previously linked to Men in Black screenwriter Ed Solomon in May 2019 after they made their public debut at a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit event in Miami.

Paulina found Ric dead in their shared Manhattan townhouse on September 15, 2019, and has been incredibly candid about her grief over his passing.

Before his death, the musician had cut his estranged wife out of his will, claiming that he was ‘abandoned’ by her, but because they were not legally divorced, Paulina, as his widow, may be entitled under New York law to an ‘elective share’ of his estate.

Ric specifically addressed the rule in his will, stating: ‘Even if I should die before our divorce is final…Paulina is not entitled to any elective share…because she has abandoned me.’

However, unless it can be proven in court that she did abandon him, she will likely be entitled to a one-third share of the musician’s assets, which are listed as $5 million in ‘copyrights,’ $100,000 in ‘tangible personal property,’ and $15,000 in cash.

Paulina, who spent most of the pandemic quarantined in her home in upstate New York, sold their family home and moved out this past October.

The new year has marked the start of a new beginning for the author, who moved into a rental apartment earlier this month. While chronicling the move, she shared a sultry photo of herself looking out her living room window wearing a silk negligee.

‘Coming full circle. As I already mentioned, my new apartment is literally next door to my very first apartment in this city, which I rented in 1983! So here I am again,’ she wrote.

Over the past few months, Paulina has been giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at her beauty routine. Her love of Beauty Pie products didn’t go unnoticed by the brand, who reached out to her about becoming a promoter.

Earlier this week, she shared a photo of herself wearing a mask and a hospital gown while visiting her doctor.

‘Starting [off] the year right: getting in my doctors’ annuals. Last year, I posted a similar photo, and I remember feeling very similar too — beaten up but hopeful. I thought I was coming out of the tunnel,’ she recalled.

‘This year, I think WE are coming out of the tunnel. I’m buckling up for an eight week s**t show — more pandemic, cold weather etc — then I fully believe things will start easing. But don’t quote me on this — I was totally wrong last year.’
