Queen Camilla tried her hand at crafting during a visit to the recently restored Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings in Shropshire, today.

Her majesty, 76, joined a spring wreath making workshop, where she was seen attaching felt daffodils to a foraged frame.

Camilla, who appeared to be struggling with her design, joked that she does have ‘a very creative side’.

‘If I had the time, I’d make this look very nice,’ she quipped.

For her outing, the royal was stylishly dressed in an Anna Valentine camel coat and skirt, a Fiona Clare leopard print blouse and Russel & Bromley suede boots.

Earlier in the day, she met local volunteer groups at the Shrewsbury Food Hub and later unveiled a plaque commemorating her visit.

Her Majesty continues to carry out engagements as King Charles and the Princess of Wales undergo cancer treatment.

Camilla wrapped up against the chill in an Anna Valentine coat, decorated with two jaunty bumble bee brooches, one of her own and one belonging to Queen Elizabeth II.

More than 2,000 people came out to catch a glimpse of the Queen on what was her first engagement meeting the public since Kate’s announcement.

Camilla has become the most senior royal to return to public-facing duties since the monarchy’s double cancer scare.

Earlier in the day, she spoke with traders as she toured the market in the Shropshire town, which featured a host of food, artisan, jewellery and craft stalls.

The Queen met with market organisers, Jenny and Stuart Jones, before touring the historic event, which has been held in The Square for almost 20 years.

It has grown into one of the best markets in the area with around 40 traders regularly setting up stall on the first Friday of the month.

Camilla also visited the Old Market Hall, where she signed the visitors book, which was also signed by Queen Elizabeth II in 1952, before meeting members of the local Bee Keepers’ Association.

It comes after Buckingham Palace yesterday confirmed that Charles is to make his most significant public appearance since he was diagnosed with cancer when he attends church on Easter Sunday.

Tomorrow, Queen Camilla will be present at the Maundy Service in Worcester Cathedral.

Her Majesty, on behalf of The King, will distribute the Royal Maundy to local pensioners in a service that commemorates Jesus washing the feet of the Apostles at the Last Supper.
