#1 – Tone-Deaf Meghan Markle Sparks Outrage With ‘Surprise’ Uvalde Visit — by Bob Hoge

The Duchess was dressed casually in jeans and a baseball cap, crossing her arms as she walked around looking at the memorials to the victims. People Magazine says a spokesperson for Meghan described her visit as being “a personal capacity as a mother, to offer her condolences and support in-person to a community experiencing unimaginable grief.”

Commenters on Daily Mail did not agree and slammed the visit:

Private jet in with an executive from your foundation; bring your PR staff with you. Bring your fancy security guy. Bring a handful of photographers. (Yes, you can see them in the photos and in the video of them heading away from the site, all surrounding Meghan with their cameras around their neck as they trail behind). Mission accomplished. Oh, send some food to volunteers and pose. But, really, how much could you have donated in cash if instead of flying a private jet in, you simply wrote out a check for the equivalent amount?

#2Sussmann Juror Is Talking, and It’s an Eye-Opener — by Nick Arama

That’s a problem — that means that she/they may have been replacing her/their own judgment about whether it should have been prosecuted at all, instead of weighing what she should have been weighing — whether or not they could find that he lied to the FBI beyond a reasonable doubt.

As George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley observed in a Twitter thread, “Telling a lie to the FBI was the entire basis for the prosecution. It was the jury’s job to determine the fact of such a lie and its materiality.” Turley allowed, “[T]his statement can be a simple criticism of the underlying charge without admitting to bias in weighing the elements. Yet, it would have prompted a challenge in the courtroom if expressed during jury selection.”

#3 – The Plot of the Paul Pelosi Arrest Story Thickens — by Nick Arama

Nancy Pelosi’s spokesperson issued a statement about her husband’s arrest. “The Speaker would not be commenting on this private matter which occurred while she was on the East Coast.” Pelosi was in Rhode Island on Sunday to speak at the Brown University commencement.

The plot of the DUI arrest story thickens. While the information doesn’t say who was at fault yet, it’s very problematic to be driving while allegedly drunk. You’re not only endangering yourself but you’re endangering others. He’s lucky that he wasn’t injured and that he didn’t injure anyone else. And what was he doing out at that time, driving allegedly in that condition?

Yes, I’m sure Nancy Pelosi who is not silent about anything else and who has a lot to say about other people wants it to be a “private matter.” Except when it’s a public arrest, it ceases to be a private matter.

#4 – More Shoes Drop in the Paul Pelosi Arrest Story — by Nick Arama

For some reason that hasn’t been fully explained yet, it took law enforcement officers more than four hours to book him after he was arrested. He wasn’t booked until 4:13 a.m. Was he resisting a breathalyzer? Causing a problem? Were they debating whether or not to charge him? It’s not clear. And if he was still blowing more than 0.08 after that time, what was he like at the time of the crash? He was released about three hours after he was booked on $5000 bail.

But now there’s more information on the accident. Pelosi was allegedly driving drunk when he piloted a 2021 Porsche through a stop sign while crossing State Route 29 and drove right into the path of an oncoming car driven by Jesus Lopez, 48, at about 10:26 p.m. So based on the report, Pelosi allegedly caused the crash. Notice he wasn’t driving an electric vehicle, but a nice gas-guzzling new Porsche.

#5 – WATCH: Woman Being Assaulted Pleads for Help While NY Subway Riders Do Nothing — by Nick Arama

Then the man rises abruptly, screaming, “Get up!” at the woman, before shoving her toward the end of the subway car. Then he heads off down the car in the other direction. He sits down near another lady, who doesn’t move. Then he gets up, jumps up on a seat, and then starts kicking at a subway window.

As someone who has ridden the subway a lot when I was working and going to school in New York City, I saw a lot of crazy people ranting on the subway. I’ve even had a few try to confront me. Generally, people try to avoid them and not confront them. But how do you do nothing when he’s grabbing a woman and she’s pleading for help? How do you not at least try to distract him away from the woman? Or even call for the police for help? The man who filmed it noticed what was going on, but he didn’t intervene either. The Daily Dot was the first to post about it, citing a Reddit post from Reddit user u/riverdale-74.
