Let’s begin with the usual disclaimer for these cases: The opinion of NBC “Late Night” host Seth Meyers about anything COVID-related could not be more irrelevant to those who deal in facts and real science.

That said, RedState often covers the left and its ridiculous narratives solely to help our readers keep up with the lunacy. And today’s episode of “Captain Butthurt from Planet COVID” affords us a perfect opportunity to do just that. (Damn, I love my job.)

Our episode begins with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R, of course) telling an assembled group of relieved high school kids they didn’t have to wear their masks if they’d rather not. As RedState reported, DeSantis told the delighted kids it’s time to “stop with this COVID theater.”

You do not have to wear those masks. I mean, please take them off honestly, it’s not doing anything, and we got to stop with this COVID theater. So, if you want to wear it, fine but this is—this is—ridiculous.

Yes, yes, yes, and yes.

Welp, that was all it took for emerging and infectious diseases expert Meyers to lose it on his Thursday show (which aired early Friday). As reported by NewsBusters, Seth wondered “how much of a d**k” DeSantis must be to defy the ridiculous, never-ending, left-wing COVID narrative.

The renowned COVID expert was particularly impressive in his worthless “knowledge” about all things masks — as transcribed by NewsBusters (emphasis and bracketed commentary, mine):

[Warning: contains coarse language]

How much of a d**k do you have to be to yell [DeSantis didn’t even come close to yelling] at a bunch of high school students who are just trying to be safe? [Wrong, Captain Butthurt; the students were trying to avoid the wrath of the mask police.]

They’re actually doing the right thing [wrong] and you’re scolding them for it [more wrong]. You’re like an old man who sees a bunch of innocent teens walking by and screams, “Hey, you kids get on my lawn! And while you’re at it, throw a Frisbee through my window. It’s not a trap.” [Wrong again, Scooter: DeSantis is following the science. You know, like you and your left-wing brethren preached incessantly — until the science no longer comported with your silly narrative.]

Also, let’s just establish the facts here: DeSantis is obviously wrong, and masks absolutely help control the spread of COVID. [This is where it gets good.]

Studies have repeatedly proven that over and over again, and the better the mask, the better protection. Ideally, everyone should have access to high-quality, high-filtration, medical-grade masks like N95s, KN95s, KF94s, and my personal favorite, the AC360, which makes the bottom half of your face look like Anderson Cooper’s.

The cute little reference to CNN — AKA: The Most Trusted Name in News™ — “journalist” Anderson Cooper aside, recent studies have shown that imposing masking on millions of children “provides little discernible benefit.”

Hell, as RedState reported in August 2021, the CDC itself found statistically insignificant differences between schools that required kids to wear masks and those that did not — but failed to include that finding in a May 28, 2021, summary report. No doubt an “oversight.”

Shall we continue with more reality?

As RedState reported in late February, the CDC announced that more than 70 percent of Americans live in places where healthy people — including school students — can safely stop wearing masks indoors. [Of course, the CDC was simply catching up with the sane and rational among us, but still, Seth — the CDC.]

No matter to left-wing crusader Meyers, whose degree of butthurt continued to rise as he ridiculously bit on DeSantis’s reference to “COVID theater”— which is precisely why the Florida governor made the reference. To tick off the loons, I mean.

Per NewsBusters:

Also, what the hell is COVID theater? [It’s what you and your left-wing comrades bust out without fail on a daily basis, Seth.] Are those plays where all the actors have to stand six feet apart. ‘I just saw the COVID theater production of Les Mis, the stage was the size of a football field. [Laughter from the peanut gallery.]

And yet, it won’t surprise you to learn that he was celebrated later that night by a host on Fox News, who thought it was hilarious that he yelled at a bunch of teenagers who were trying to stay safe and do the right thing.

Again, DeSantis did not yell at anybody. What the governor did do was express his disgust with the continuing nonsense.

And the obligatory shot at Fox News reminds us yet again of how much the left fears the influence of Fox and its nightly audience; which dwarfs the combined viewership of CNN and MSNBC on a regular basis.

Anyway, remember this about all left-wing narratives:

Any and all facts, data, logic, history, and common sense that runs counter to left-wing propaganda must be (choose one or more ): discredited, lied about, ridiculed, dismissed, or outright ignored. Here are a couple of COVID-related examples:

White House Makes Demand of Big Tech Platforms to Address COVID-19 ‘Misinformation’

The bottom line:

Seth Meyers might be irrelevant, but left-wing misinformation is not. It must be exposed as often as possible. Thank God, it’s a target-rich environment on a daily basis.
