A report came via Twitter Thursday night that a memo has been sent out to personnel in the Del Rio Sector in Texas. The sector’s communication office informed personnel that media access will be denied to DHS, CBP, and USBP facilities. Only limited access in public areas and perhaps on some private land will be allowed.

Title 42 may or may not be ending Monday, May 23. Biden, DHS Secretary Mayorkas, and CDC announced that Title 42 would end on that date but the decision is tied up in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana. Border states are waiting on a decision to be handed down by U.S. District Judge Robert Summerhays. Summerhays said he will announce his ruling by the 23rd. In the meantime, media is arriving along the southern border to report on the subject. Little media interest has been shown for the Biden border crisis, except during the Whipgate phony scandal. The only media outlet providing continuous coverage of the crisis on the border is Fox News Channel. With the deadline looming, other outlets are arriving in the area.

The Del Rio Sector, the epicenter of illegal migration along the Rio Grande River on the Mexican border, sent the memo to minimize press coverage of whatever will happen when Title 42 ends. The truth is, DHS, Border Patrol agents, and other law enforcement in the area know what will happen. Everyone from Joe Biden to Secretary Mayorkas to the governors of border states have been warned that the number of illegal migrants will explode, likely triple, when Title 42 ends. Biden and Mayorkas don’t want any additional chaos on the southern border to be reported, you can bet on that.

What happened to all that transparency we were promised by Sleepy Joe? He pledged to have the most transparent administration ever. Biden is conveniently in South Korea today and will be out of the country when Title 42 ends, if it does on the 23rd. As a side note, when Biden arrived in Seoul, he was taken to a Samsung computer chip plant where he promptly flubbed his speech. He was pointing out that the plant is a model for a $17B semiconductor factory Samsung is building in Taylor, Texas. Taylor is in the Austin area. Instead of saying Taylor, though, bumbling Joe said the plant is being built in Tyler, Texas. His trip overseas is off to a great start. (sarcasm)

The national media doesn’t give a rip about the Biden border crisis because they have taken it upon themselves to protect Biden at every turn. His obvious failure to secure the southern border and handle the unprecedented number of illegals crossing the border on a daily basis is apparent to border state leaders and residents. Secretary Mayorkas made what was only his 10th trip to the border a few days ago. Kamala, the border czar, has only made one trip to El Paso, which is not in the Rio Grande Valley.

El Paso faces new challenges as illegal migrants are being released already in that city. El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego and Mayor Oscar Leeser were going to issue emergency declarations to get out in front of the decision due on Monday but that has now been put on hold.

“We backed off of it because we found out that there’s very little difference between the funding we’re getting now and the funding that we would get if it went up to the governor and the governor sent it to President Biden,” El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego told The Post. “Right now they could fund the processing center, they can fund the paid volunteers.”

Local leaders have been looking to set up a temporary shelter or processing center for migrants after more than 100 were released onto the streets of downtown El Paso Sunday after both the Border Patrol processing center and non-profit shelters ran out of space to house them.

The City of El Paso initially told The Post it would declare a state of emergency Wednesday evening, while the County of El Paso publicly announced it would do the same Thursday morning in order to be eligible for additional funding to deal with the crisis. After meetings with FEMA and other federal officials, Samaniego told The Post he’d lost the appetite to push forward.

“We were led to believe at the beginning that there’d be a big difference [in funding] so we got excited about that,” he said in a phone interview. “We gathered everybody and we asked FEMA, ‘Okay, FEMA, how much do we gain from doing this declaration?’ And he said, ‘You’re getting most of the funding now through emergency and shelter funding.’”

“So we actually backed off — the mayor and I backed off.”

In Biden’s America, there is no leadership at the top levels. Border states have been left to fend for themselves. There is no guidance or support coming from the White House. Biden intentionally created this humanitarian crisis and as the midterm elections grow closer, his abandonment of a basic responsibility of his office – to protect the borders – is one of a growing list of failures that voters have grown frustrated with. November is coming. Let’s hope Judge Summerhays drops his ruling today instead of waiting until late Sunday night. He can do it in a Friday afternoon news dump. The sooner the better.
