Rich Homie Quan has died at 34 years old. According to TMZ, the rapper’s family and a representative for the Fulton County morgue confirmed that Quan passed away in his home on September 5. They didn’t reveal his cause of death, although the outlet stated that his family is “desperately searching for answers.” Fellow rapper T.O Green claimed in a leaked private message, which he later reposted himself, that Quan’s death was the result of a drug overdose from a “bad pill,” but this hasn’t been officially confirmed.
Quan first rose to fame in 2013 after the success of his song “Type of Way,” and saw his biggest solo hit in 2015 with “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh).” His dancing in the latter’s music video was described as “hitting the Quan,” which became a meme that year. Quan was also a member of hip hop collective Rich Gang, featuring on the group’s 2014 single “Lifestyle” alongside Young Thug. The latter song was certified Platinum in the United States, peaking at #16 on the Billboard Hot 100 and receiving numerous remixes.
After numerous mixtapes, Quan released his debut album, “Rich as in Spirit” in 2018. It peaked at #32 on the Billboard 200 and included a collaboration with Rick Ross. Quan continued to release music as recently as this year.

Fans and friends remember Rich Homie Quan
Rich Homie Quan’s fans are paying tribute to his musical legacy on X, formerly known as Twitter. Alongside a clip of the “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” music video, one user wrote, “Rip to rich homie Quan, this man ruled summer 2015-16 with his hits. Praying over his loved ones.” Meanwhile, another praised Quan’s work with his frequent collaborator and fellow Rich Gang member. “Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan were unstoppable together this one cuts deep RIP,” they said.
In addition to his fans, Quan’s fellow artists spoke out in memory of the rapper. Migos member Quavo posted a photo to his Instagram Stories of himself with Quan, Young Thug, who was arrested in 2022, and his own fellow group members, Offset and the late Takeoff. Alongside the photo, Quavo wrote, “May God be with US never saw this being apart of our journey.” Previously, Quan collaborated with Migos on the tracks “New Atlanta,” “YRN,” and “In Too Deep.” This wasn’t Quavo’s first touching social media tribute, as he broke his silence on Takeoff’s death in 2022.
