1. He was just a year old when his father passed away.
2. Owing to his mother’s profession as a stage actor, Richard Barthelmess grew up in the theatre and experienced “walk-ons” from an early age.
3. He indulged in acting during his college years and had 5 years of stock company experience by 1919.
4. It was Russian actor Alla Nazimova, a friend of the family, who convinced him to try to pursue a career in acting.
5. Along with Charles Duell and Henry King, Richard Barthelmess formed his own production company named Inspiration Film Company.
