What does it mean to be white? This is a question that author and professional race-grifter Robin DiAngelo seeks to answer in a presentation that is being given to various school districts. The content of the training appears to be designed to further indoctrinate educators and school staff into so-called progressive ideas about race so they can influence the minds of their young students to embrace this ideology.

Ian Prior, executive director of Fight for Schools, posted a tweet showing screenshots of the training. DiAngelo begins by writing:

I have spent years studying what it means to be white in a society that proclaims race meaningless, yet is deeply divided by race. This is what I have learned: ANY White person living in the United States will develop opinions about race simply by swimming in the water of our culture.

What follows are statements that would be widely reviled as racist if made by someone like David Duke, Richard Spencer, or even a regular non-racist person who does not subscribe to far-leftist ideology. She argues that because white people “are taught to see themselves as individuals, rather than as part of a racial group,” they “are racially objective and thus can represent the universal human experience, while people of color can only represent their race.”

Think about that for a second.

Only white folks can signify the overall human experience, but black and Hispanics cannot because we have more melanin in our skin. DiAngelo is using the type of dehumanizing rhetoric in regards to “people of color” that is popular amongst white supremacists throughout history. Even if her contention that minorities might view themselves as part of a racial group is true, it does not logically follow that we are somehow incapable of embodying the “universal human experience.” It also does not mean we are unable to see ourselves as individuals. To suggest otherwise is pure, unadulterated racism.

In the next section, DiAngelo lists attributes that somehow define what it is to be white. Among these traits are:

Self-reliance

Decision-making

Desire to win at all costs

Speaking the King’s English

Being polite

Celebrating Christian holidays

Hard work is key to being successful

“If you didn’t meet your goals, you didn’t work hard enough”

Objective, rational linear thinking

Planning for the future

There you have it. People like DiAngelo don’t believe black and brown Americans value self-reliance. They do not believe minorities think hard work is important to success. These folks don’t believe nonwhites value objective and rational thinking. They contend that being polite is not a trait valued by more melanated folks.

Would anyone doubt that a white supremacist or Neo-Nazi would agree with every single word of this? These points are vintage white supremacist thought thinly wrapped in progressive orthodoxy. These people are literally furthering racist ideas under the guise of promoting unity and equity. Indeed, they are influencing white people to embrace racist ideas without their knowing it. It is racism disguised as compassion, nothing more. Both encourage the idea that minorities are inferior beings.

DiAngelo’s presentation promotes a type of thinking similar to what slave owners adopted to justify their participation in the “peculiar institution.” They told themselves blacks were inferior and unable to live on their own, therefore, enslaving them was actually saving them. The author’s training illustrates that progressive thought, in many ways, is remarkably similar to the white supremacist ideology they claim to despise. But this brand of racism is far more insidious in that it masquerades as antiracism, which is par for the course in the world of progressivism. Either way, I’m sure the David Dukes of the world are on board with the idea.
