Roman Kemp has revealed that he considered jumping in front of a train during his battle with depression.
The Capital radio host, 28, spoke frankly of his mental health struggles, recalling how he was ‘caught up in his brain’ on everything.
Discussing the moment in 2019 to The Sun’s Fabulous, he said: ‘All these pressures just came on top of me. I remember being in my bedroom not knowing what to do. That day, I thought about going to the train station and jumping in front of a train.’

During the tell-all interview, the TV star was joined by his mother Shirlie, 59, who found fame in the 80s with Wham! and as one half of Pepsi & Shirlie.
She shares an incredibly close bond with her son and was the guiding light he turned to when his thoughts became ‘blurred’ after coming off his antidepressants.
Shirlie, who has suffered with anxiety her whole life, said that the ‘worry never stops’ and she would have ‘failed at her job’ if Roman couldn’t talk to her.

She said there is a misunderstanding in society whereby it’s assumed that the higher up the ladder you go, the more success you have.
‘I experienced that when I went to the top of fame and realised there’s nothing up here. It was a lonely place,’ she remarked.
The past 15 months have posed challenges for the presenter as last August, his friend and colleague Joe Lyons took his own life aged 31.

Roman learned of the news while presenting his Capital Breakfast show and is still trying to come to terms with it.
Joe’s tragic death triggered Roman’s documentary entitled Roman Kemp: Our Silent Emergency, which drew on the mental health and suicide crisis affecting young men.
In his memory, Roman is also patron of Joe’s Buddy Line which which aims to provide mental health workshops in schools.

He said: ‘Yes [it’s good to be able to help people], but I’d rather have my friend back. That’s what’s so hard. You do this thing and make yourself feel great. But then I remember why I’m doing it and it’s s**t.’
Elsewhere during the chat, Roman dwelled on lockdown and said it was ‘weird and quite sad’ that he was able to see his father, Spandau Ballet star Martin, 60, but not his mother.
The father-and-son filmed together for Celebrity Gogglebox, as well as their ITV show Martin And Roman’s Weekend Best!
Roman concluded the interview by admitting that he and sister Harley Moon attempt to emulate the relationship their parents, who have been married for 33 years, have.
He is currently single after ending with Australian radio producer Codie Jones earlier this year, but there’s no doubt Shirlie won’t be short of love life updates as there is ‘no secrets’ between the mother-and-son.
