Ryan Hollins has been playing professional basketball since 2006. He began his professional basketball career after being picked by the Charlotte Bobcats in the 2006 NBA draft. Hollins was the 100th player drafted by the NBA from UCLA. He was traded to the Dallas Mavericks on January 16, 2009, but shortly became a free agent. On August 3, 2009, he was offered a three-year, $7 million deal by the Minnesota Timberwolves, which Maverick’s offer could not match. On July 26, 2010, he was traded from the Timberwolves to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He was released by the Cavaliers on March 20, 2012, and joined the Boston Celtics on March 23, 2012. He signed with the Los Angeles Lakers on July 23, 2012. Hollins signed with the Sacramento Kings on September 18, 2014. He joined the Memphis Grizzlies on September 28, 2015, but was waived after seven preseason games.

On November 30, he joined the Washington Wizards but was dismissed after just five games. He returned to the Grizzlies on December 29 but was dismissed on January 7, 2016. He resigned from the Grizzlies after 10 days and signed a contract extension for the remainder of the season. However, he was released from the team on April 7, 2016. He joined Herbalife Gran Canaria on December 15, 2016, but was fired from the club for traveling to America without authorization. On March 18, 2017, he joined the Italian club Aluxilium Torino for the remainder of the 2016-17 season. Hollins was also a part of the United States squad that won bronze at the 2015 Pan American Games.
