The dead body of George was discovered by Dynasty Suites motel’s housekeeping staff. A warrant was issued for Kruzan’s arrest after her identification card and purse were discovered in the motel room.
Four days later, on the 14th of March 1994, after the murder of Howard in the motel, the American sex-trafficking survivor was arrested reportedly at home where her boyfriend’s uncle Hampton was residing in Pomona.
California Youth Authority concluded Kruzan was suitable for treatment in the juvenile justice system after an evaluation; yet, a local judge, at the urging of Tim Freer, the prosecutor, transferred her to the adult court.

Her legal team fought for years to get a new trial, arguing Kruzan should’ve been allowed at her 1995 trial. They fought for her right to present a defense that Sara had been a victim of “intimate partner battering” by George.
