SCARLETT Johansson has begged Colin Jost to ‘sell his Staten Island Ferry for scrap metal’ after his disaster deal with Pete Davidson.
Actress Scarlett, 40, jokingly called on her SNL star husband, 42, to reconsider the pricey investment he made three years ago with fellow comedian Pete, 31.
In 2022, Colin and his one-time friend Pete purchased a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry for $280,000 with plans to transform it into an entertainment venue.
However, the project has faced delays due to disagreements between the two and Colin’s new role as the host of Pop Culture Jeopardy.
Pete recently stated there is a “full plan in motion,” but Scarlett remains doubtful.
While co-hosting Today with Jenna & Friends, Scarlett addressed the topic.
She joined Jenna Bush Hager as a guest presenter from Tuesday to Friday this week and was surprised by Colin on her second day.
He arrived on set with a bouquet of flowers and joined Scarlett for a segment called The Great Debate.
During the game, the couple debated several topics, including who is the better bedtime story reader.
The segment closed with a discussion about Colin’s Staten Island Ferry purchase.
Before Scarlett shared her thoughts, Jenna allowed her to make her case.
Scarlett said, “All I can say is if anybody out there would like to start a GoFundMe for the Staten Island Ferry, please be my guest.”
She joked, “I don’t know if I’m speaking for the Staten Island Ferry or against it, but help our family.
“This has now become a telethon for Support the Staten Island Ferry.”
Jenna chimed in, “Sounds like it was a bad idea.”
Colin defended the purchase, saying, “All I’ll say is I hope you have a good, thick pair of gloves at home because someday you’re going to be getting paper cuts from all the checks that start rolling in from this ferry.”
He teased, “It is going to put food on our table finally.”
Scarlett added that she believed it might bring in money, but only if they “sell it for scrap metal.”
Colin concluded, “I believe in this ferry, and if anyone else does too, they should go to the GoFundMe.”
Jenna declared Scarlett the winner of that debate.
Despite Scarlett’s scepticism, Pete has insisted there’s an “in-depth plan” to renovate the ferry.
In a December interview with The Wall Street Journal, he said: “We do have, believe it or not, an in-depth plan.
“Every day I get asked about this f***ing boat, and we’re raising the funds.
“We’re going to do a floor at a time. There’s a full plan in motion, and meanwhile people are renting it out.”
The ferry was rented out for Tommy Hilfiger’s fashion show in September.
While Colin attended the show, Pete did not.
The boat also served as a set to a horror film, Steamboat Willie.
The ship’s renovation project has seen many setbacks in the past three years.
Pete has checked into rehab multiple times, including a stint last summer.
He also checked into treatment for his mental health briefly in November, after a split from secret fling Maria Georgas.
FRIENDSHIP OVER
Once close friends and SNL castmates, Pete and Colin’s relationship ended in 2024 amid the younger star’s troubles.
“Something big happened and Colin is now refusing to be in the same building, let alone the same room as Pete,” an insider exclusively told The U.S. Sun.
“Colin doesn’t want to be associated with Pete.”
The two shook hands when Pete had a cameo on SNL in November, though the interaction looked tense.
Pete also appeared to touch on his suspected feud with Colin when speaking about his longtime friend, comedian John Mulaney- and the three friends who have been there for him through thick and thin.
“I watched him as he took it on the chin a couple of years ago and had to completely revamp his life,” he told the WSJ in the interview.
“I’m kind of in the midst of that now, and he’s been helping me so much. It was so inspiring to watch him beat his addiction, become an even bigger comedian, go on an arena tour, start a family. He’s so happy now and it looks effortless, but it’s not.”
“And I’ve gotta say, he’s always had my back and he’s always there, and not a lot of people are for me. I would say it’s just him, Lorne [Michaels] and Machine Gun Kelly.”
SHIP STILL SAILING
Despite Pete and Colin’s feud and the Bupkis star’s personal problems, the ferry renovation is still very much in the works, sources confirmed to The U.S. Sun.
Architect Ron Castellano explained the vision for the ship in a recent interview with Curbed.
“It’s going to have a lot of things. I think right now, we have six bars and two venues operated separately or combined.”
“We have outdoor event space, we have restaurants — two restaurants.
“It’s a big boat, almost 300 feet long, 65,000 square feet.”
“Where it ends up all depends on what kind of deal they can get with the City of New York,” an insider told The U.S. Sun.
“They’re all from the city, so the goal is for it to stay there.”
