Serj Tankian’s Wife, A Glimpse Into His Married Life

Serj Tankian, the frontman for System of a Down, has been married to his wife Angela Madatyan for almost a decade.

Despite living in the center of the public eye, Tankian has managed to keep his private life with his wife and family a closely guarded secret.

Fans will be relieved to learn that someone as well-known as Tankian can only keep so much hidden from the public eye. Tankian took to Instagram on June 9, 2020, to express his gratitude for the wonderful relationship he has.

A vintage monochrome photo of the couple blissfully lost in their kiss was featured in the post. Tankian turned to face his wife, who did the same, her flowing curls gleaming for the camera. The singer expressed his gratitude for having a life partner who was as committed to justice and equality as he had been his entire life in the caption.

“Thank you for adding color and vibrancy to my world and making it our world,” the caption concluded ironically. “Sirum em Kez!” he wrote at the end of the caption, which roughly translates to “I love you” in Armenian

Tankian married his longtime girlfriend Madatyan on June 9, 2012, in a private, invite-only ceremony in Semi Valley, California, according to Armenian Pulse.

Despite the fact that the Vanadzor-born Madatyan had been seen with the vocalist on numerous occasions, public events, and otherwise, little was known about the enigmatic woman, according to the outlet. The couple welcomed a baby boy into their family just over two years after getting married.

Jim Lee, the Chief Creative Officer of DC WarnerMedia, sent out a tweet on October 25, 2014, congratulating Tankian and his wife on their first child.

As he congratulated the singer on the birth of his son, the creative revealed that the couple had named their firstborn son Rumi.

Of course, longtime Tankian fans are aware that he released a song called ‘Rumi’ earlier this year. The song was an ode written by a devoted father in order to express his love for his son through music.

Serj Tankian is a loving father to his children.

However, the song wasn’t just about him sharing his feelings for his son; later in the song, he also gave Rumi some wise words to live by. Rumi, like his father, appears to be a people-pleaser.

Rumi joined his father Tankian on stage during one of his concerts in 2018 when he was just four years old. Rumi’s first instinct was to reach for the microphone and say “Hi” to the audience—with a wave—while most kids his age might have been intimidated by the swarm of fans his father was singing to.
